How to Avoid Dry Skin in Fall

Believe it or not, as seasons change, so does your skin. Just how we opt for certain color lipsticks and eyeshadows in summer versus fall, we should be reaching for the correct skincare products so our skin doesn’t suffer from the changes in temperature. With fall right around the corner, you’ll want to make sure that you’re incorporating these key steps to avoid dry skin.

  • Use lukewarm water: Some people prefer scorching water to shower in no matter what time of year, but this is not a wise decision in cooler temperatures. Chances are that you’re already experiencing dry skin from the drop in temperature and to make sure that you’re not stripping away any additional moisture from your skin, turn your shower handle to a happy medium between hot and cold.

  • Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize: As simple as it is to apply lotion, this is often skipped out on because people either are too lazy or don’t realize the importance of it. Lather your skin in lotion as soon as you get out of the shower to lock in moisture.

  • Keep hand cream handy: Avoid embarrassing dry, rough hands by keeping a small bottle of hand cream within reach and apply whenever you feel the need. This is important for someone who constantly washes their hands.

  • Use chapstick: If dry hands aren’t bad enough, imagine the sight and feel of dry lips… Yuck! Along with exfoliating your lips in moderation during fall/winter, show your lips extra TLC by applying a generous amount of lip balm when needed to keep your lips hydrated. Remember, your lips are a sign of your youth ;).
